After announcing the #BuyBlack Friday campaign in the US earlier this month, Facebook is now promoting a #BuyBlack Friday Gift Guide.
Black-owned businesses have been closing at twice the rate of other small businesses in the United States, making them especially hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. To support black-owned businesses, Facebook its #BuyBlack Friday campaign in the US, earlier this month.
Now, Facebook is its #BuyBlack Friday Gift Guide, featuring products from Black-owned businesses, and curated with the help of the U.S. Black Chambers and other organizations.
Businesses featured within the Guide include South Carolina-based jewelry, clothing and accessories business The Tiny Tassel, San Francisco-based clothing company DIARRABLU, and New York-based tea shop Brooklyn Tea Company.
All of the businesses took a big hit early on in the pandemic and moved their efforts online to survive.
The #BuyBlack Friday Gift Guide can be found at and in Facebook’s Lift Black Voices Hub. The Hub also includes links to other resources to help people #BuyBlack for the holidays like the #BuyBlackChallenge, encouraging people to post and tag favorite Black-owned businesses on Facebook.
Furthermore, is also launching a new #BuyBlack Stories Sticker with which users can promote #BuyBlack Friday on their Facebook Stories.
Finally, Facebook is premiering The #BuyBlack Friday Show live event. It will run every Friday until November 27, and is meant to “spotlight Black-owned businesses, celebrate Black culture and inspire consumers to #BuyBlack.”
